Happy Birthday to Me

Yesterday was my 27th birthday.  

I am one of those people who enjoys celebrating her birthday.  Lots of people try to hide how old they are or downplay their birthday.  I believe birthdays should be celebrated.  God has blessed me with another year on this earth and I think that is a reason to smile and enjoy the day.

I usually do the whole family thing with cake on my birthday but this year I went another way to celebrate.  I used some of my spa gift certificates that I wasn't able to use before Zachary was born and I spent the afternoon by myself at the spa.

Murray and Zachary spent the afternoon together while I had a facial and pedicure and it was fantastic! Afterwards our little family went for dinner.  It was a great day!

oh oh oh oh.... I forgot to tell you what I actually got for my birthday (no 4 hours baby free wasn't my only gift).

My family all went in and got me a me MacBook laptop!!!!!!!

The reason I almost forgot (while I type on my new laptop) is that it actually came a week or so ago in the mail and I have been playing with it ever since.  It was an early gift.

I am feeling so spoiled and blessed.  Thank you to everyone.

Ahhh September...

I love September.

Even though it means the end of summer is here and that makes me sad I have always loved September.  I love the cool evenings, watching the leaves change colour and of course my favorite thing...starting a new school year.

I think thats one of the reasons I became I teacher, I love going back to school.  The start of every year is always exciting with different challenges and rewards.  This is the first time I am not heading back to school with everyone else since I was 5 years old and I have to admit I am feeling a wee bit sad this September.  I miss it.

Then this morning I woke up and saw my husband cuddling with my son in our bed and I felt like this is where I need to be right now.  Although I am missing my students and teacher friends, school can wait for now.  I know my son will only be little for a short time.

Zachary and I have registered in a few classes this fall, just so we get that new starting feeling.  We will be swimming every week together and going to a new mommies group.  Should be fun.

Our little man is growing so fast.  Flipping from back to front and front to back is easy now.  Loves sucking his toes.  He is even sitting up very well on his own.  Crawling is in our near future I think.

Rory Gets Her Day!

My niece has been waiting patiently for her turn to come for a sleepover and last Thursday the day finally came.  We baked cookies, went swimming, played on the computer.  But I think the best part for her was that she had a chance to hold Zachary endlessly without sharing.  There is no doubt she loves her cousin A LOT!  What a fun little girl.

Team Finish!

Kelly, Michelle and I all tried something new this Saturday.  We entered a Triathlon (500m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) as a team.  I am so proud of all three of us, even though we did not win, we all did our personal bests! 

I would really like to try to do the whole thing next year.  I will have to learn to swim and become a better runner before then.

Waterton Lakes National Park

What a great week!

I had the best time with my two men this past week.  We went hiking, golfing , did a shoreline cruise and saw lots of wildlife.  The scenery was amazing and the weather could not have been better!  I would recommend Waterton Lakes as a must visit for everyone.
