Fostering Friendship

I love our cats...I do.

They just shed sooooo much hair, I hate cleaning the litter box and some members of my family have allergies and it makes getting together on holidays tricky.  I have lobbied to get rid of our cats, especially since Zachary's arrival but Murray has always insisted that we keep them.  We go back and forth all the time and never really come to any conclusion that we both feel good about.

Well recently their has been a new voice raising his opinion on our cats.  Zachary loves our cats and its very obvious.  He smiles and laughs when ever he sees them.  He crawls after them all over the house. They bring him lots of joy. This love has not been returned by the cats...until recently.  Felix has decided that any attention from Zachary (even hair pulling and shouting in his ear) is better than no attention at all.  Perhaps he senses his days may be numbered if he doesn't make friends.  Felix will sit with Zachary when he is paying on the floor.  Felix will let Zachary pull on him and shout at him.  Felix is very patient with Zachary and slowly Zachary is learning how to be gentle with Felix.  It seems this new found friendship is good for both of them.

So it seems that the vote for keeping the cats is now two against one.  I am out voted and I am not that sad about it to be honest.  Both cats will remain members of our family...hair and all.
