Zachary's Fu*k

While playing with his birthday Pladoh at the kitchen table Zachary yells to me "Mommy look a Fu*k!"

A little shocked and surprized at the statement I calmly reply "Pardon me?"

Zachary says "a fu*k"

"A what?" I reply

"A fu*k... rib-bit rib-bit...a fu*K" Zachary says

"Oh a FROG!"  I say relieved.  Crisis averted.

Happy Tuesday!

Milestones...

We reached a few milestones at our house over the past few weeks.  The first was reaching the mid-way point in my pregnancy and going for my first ultrasound.  Overall it was a very positive experience but through the course of 24 hours I lost (but then regained) my good mommy points.  I'll explain...

We had an early morning appointment so Murray was able to come with me before heading off to work.  At the clinic where we went they allow you to take home one picture of your baby if you pay 1 dollar.  Silly I know but of course we needed a picture.  After getting the picture, I tucked it carefully into my purse and headed on my way for a day of running errands and shopping.  I went to many stores, had many receipts, and even purchased a new purse that I was excited.  I switched everything over from my old purse to the new purse.  After arriving home, I cleaned out my vehicle and threw all the loose papers into the garbage can outside of our house.  Our evening continued as usually we put Zachary to bed, went to bed ourselves and at 5:00am in the morning I sat up straight in bed and realized I had thrown out our babies first picture!!!!  Loser Mommy of the Year!!!  I instantly lost all good mommy points.  It was a work day so I didn't have time to search for the picture but thought about it all day long.  Poor second child, how was I going to explain the fact that there are no ultrasound pictures in its baby book?   When I got home I went straight to the garbage can and started searching through all the loose papers and receipts I had thrown away the day before and YES! I found the picture!!!!

So throwing away the picture carelessly losses me my good mommy points but I think searching through the garbage to find it again allows me to regain my points.  I promptly stuck the picture to the fridge and thats where it will remain until I can tuck it safely into the baby book.

We also celebrated Zachary's 2nd birthday this week (4 times)!  He has been really excited about his birthday and all he has been asking for the last few days is a Mickey cake.  He even started singing Happy Birthday to random people as we drive in the car; Granma Jeannie or Lisa, Aunty Michelle, Daddy or Mommy. He was very excited!  I don't know how it happened but the little man got to sing Happy Birthday and blow out candles 4 different times this week.  First, he had a party at the dayhome with all his dayhome friends. He also requested a Mickey cake to Trudy so that's what she made him.  Then we had a grandparents party Thursday night the day of his actual birthday.  My Grandmother at 75 always surprizes me.  She showed up unexpectedly in full clown dress as Bertie the Clown.  At first Zachary was scared of her and told her she couldn't come in the house but once we explained it was Great Granma he was at least willing to take her animal balloons and play with her water squirting camera.

Zachary thought it tasted good!

Zachary's third party was at the rec centre where we invited family and friends to come swimming.  Unfortunately, the day of the party a few families had to cancel, even his best friend Ty our neighbour because he was running a high fever and not feeling well.  But thankfully Zachary has lots of cousins and he seem to enjoy himself all the same.  We even had a chance to visit with Murray's cousin and his family who we don't get to see very often so that was really nice. A big thank you to everyone who was able to make it out!

We celebrated a fourth time when we got home on Saturday.  It was an unplanned event.  When we got home and all of our neighbours were out because it was a beautiful day.  Ty (who was unable to make the first party and was feeling really unset about it) was feeling a little better so he was sitting outside as well.  One neighbour ordered pizza and we sat and watched the kids play basketball, sidewalk chalk and drive around remove control cars.  I brought out the remaining cupcakes from the party and all the kids sang to Zachary one last time because thats what Ty really wanted to do.  A perfect ending to a great week.

What a lucky little man to be surrounded by so many wonderful people that love him.  Thank you to everyone for your time and the wonderful gifts!

The Great Mini Van Debate

Our lease is up on our truck in May and its time we start thinking about a new vehicle.  Its a decision we have been putting off for a while now only because we can not decided on what type of vehicle we need or want.

For our growing family a mini van seems like the reasonable, practical, and affordable choice.  However, I have never envisioned myself as a mini van driver, more like a sporty SUV.

All of my friends who drive mini vans love them and I can see the appeal.  The storage, the ease of getting in and out, and all the fancy features mini vans come with now do make them attractive to young families.  Its just the idea of a mini van that I am having a hard time getting used to.  I won't completely veto the idea of owning a mini van but I am definitely going to make sure we explore all of our options. I will keep you posted as the vehicle search continues.

On a different note, we were lucky enough to spend a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon on a sleigh ride with Murray's parents.  There were about 20 sleighs altogether and over 60 people.  Cowboy Zach had a lot of fun and didn't seem to mind that we spent over 4 hours on the sleigh.  He is still talking about Papa's horses Pete and Pearl.  Thank you T and J for inviting us out.

A Few Quick Pics

We had a really great time in California.  It was so much fun taking Zachary (and my nieces and nephews) around Disneyland.

I don't have all of the photos because I let my sister-in-law (the photographer) take a lot of the photos for us, but here are a few of my current favorites.
