Big Boy Cowboy Room

The inspiration for the cowboy room came from the quilt on his bed.  One cow patch, one red wall, one wall with a denim faux finish and one wall with Pete and Pearl (Grandpa Terry's Horses) looking over the fence.

My Mom generously gave up her weekend to help me paint the room, together we probably spent 10 hours painting.  Our hearts were racing when we were ready to try the the faux finish because neither of us had done it before and we didn't know how it was going to turn out but it looks so great.  The pictures almost don't do it justice. My talented friend Jeanine came out today to paint the mural.  You never would have believed if even if you had seen it she whipped up this picture on the wall in an afternoon.   What an extremely talented girl!  Having her come out and paint was also a great excuse to spend some time catching up.

The finished product.

This wall won't look so bare once we get Zachary a dresser.  The change table/dresser we were using for him up until this point has moved to the baby's room.

Pete and Pearl.

Thanks to Mom and Jeanine, without their help my big plans would be just that plans...I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by talented people who help me change my plans into reality.

Oh and thanks to my husband too, who entertained my son most of the weekend so that we had uninterrupted time to paint.

Happy Wednesday!

The Perfect Weekend...

My Mom offered to take Zachary for a sleepover this weekend, so Murray and I had a 24 hour mini holiday.

I got...

  • a day to scrapbook and catch up with my best friend

  • an evening out with my husband (its been awhile)

  • a chance to sleep in past 6:00am

  • a morning to clean my house without a little person making messes behind me (its sad how happy a clean house makes me)

  • a couple hours in the local greenhouse creating my moss basket (LOVE that greenhouse smell)

  • a chance to cheer on my basketball team as they win their first playoff game (yah Pornstars!)

Overall I am just feeling refreshed.  The best part is Zachary really enjoyed his time with Granma Lisa too.  Thanks Mom.

Happy Monday!

Our Funny Bunny

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

Had to share a few pictures from the weekend.  We had a great Easter out at the farm.  A big thank you to T & J for having us and cooking a wonderful meal.  Zachary had a lot of fun out at the farm as usual. To go outside one morning he dressed up in one of Murray's old hockey coats and then chose an in interesting hat from T & J's closet.  He insisted that he had to wear it.

Here he is out on the lawn driving the little quad.

The funny thing is I don't think he could see where he was going at all!

He's such a little weight that he had a hard time getting traction and sometimes Murray had to give him a little push.

What a funny little guy!

Baby Update

Why is it that the second pregnancy seems to go along a little neglected?  Oh maybe because you usually have a busy toddler to distract you.

I am almost at the 22 week mark and realized I have not taken any belly pictures.  At this stage in my pregnancy with Zachary I had already taken 2 belly pictures.  At the 16 week mark I wanted a picture and forgot and the same goes for the 20 week mark.  Yesterday I set up the tripod and tried out the timer feature on the camera.  It wasn't easy but I was able to get a few pics.

Was even able to stage this one with the little man.

So far the pregnancy is going along just fine.  Although I have been able to feel the baby move for quite some time now, Murray was able to feel it move about two weeks ago for the first time.  I think that has made this whole baby thing a little more real for him.  Zachary is starting to notice other babies more when we are out in public and likes to talk about our baby when we read stories about other babies.  Maybe its becoming more real for him too.

Hope everyone has a great long Easter weekend with their families.

Happy Good Friday!

Vehicle Update

This week we finally made a vehicle decision and purchased our new vehicle.  No its not a mini van.  After a week of mishaps with our Mazda (the vehicle we are keeping that is approaching 200,000km) we decided that we will probably have to replace that as well in the next two years so we opted for something a little smaller this time around and then we can visit the mini van decision again in two years.

In the mean time we purchased a brand new 2011 Kia Sorento!

Its a crossover SUV. It drives like a car and gets great gas mileage while having a spacious interior that can hold up to 7 people. It has a few really fun features, my favourite being the heated seats (which I LOVE!) and blue-tooth capability so it connects to my cell phone hands free.  Besides that, its really pretty!  So far we are really pleased with our choice.

Happy Thursday!
